1. 60 km
Praia da Marinha
This very nice piece of beach has several years ago received the award “Golden Beach”. Photos from the rugged cliffs on this beautiful beach have been central to various holiday brochures for the promotion of Portugal. Not only the cliffs are special, also the beautiful clear water of unknown class. Because the water is pretty quiet, it attracts many snorkelers. Keep in mind the many stair steps down to get to this amazing beach. Various cruises have excursions around to see more of the coast, as the caves.

2. 64 km
Silves
The big feature of Silves is its castle “Castle of the Moors’ on top of a mountain. In the area several excavations have been found around this castle that show that some buildings dating back to the 8th century. The Musueu Municipal de Arquelógia gives you the chance to learn more about objects from the Stone Age. The cathedral in the center of the 13th century. This city has a museum. Namely the cork museum Fábrica do Inglês “including a documentation center, archives, beautiful garden, cozy terrace and a children’s park.

Caldas de Monchique (spa)

Lagos

Near Albufeira, about 8 miles away, is the Paderne castle with pieces of the partially remaining city walls.

Sagres Point
The most outer southwestern tip of Europe, Sagres Point. Here is also a 16th century fortress with compass rose and cannons. Nearby are many quiet beaches with high cliffs. To admire the beautiful nature park ‘Costa Vicentina Natural Park’ it has about 76,000 ha lots of flora and fauna. At a distance of about 6 miles is Cape St. Vincent. The only building on this promontory is the 24 meter high lighthouse which was built on the ruins of an old monastery.

Portimão
On the southern coast of Portugal is the city of Portimão. Especially among sailors Portimão town is well known. Are regularly large and prestigious sailing events are held here. Praia da Luz
Many villas and resorts of Praia da Luz’s make a small vacation paradise. Along the coastline are many diving schools, surfing schools, restaurants, discos and shops. Higher in the mountains are some archaeological sites including a Roman bath. Who is looking for something more adventurous may well end up in Praia da Luz. So you can make cliff walks with stunning views. But there is more to do. Consider water skiing, horseback riding, tennis, sailing, mountain biking and paragliding. At about 10 minutes away from the historic town of Lagos.

Alcoutim
The place Alcoutim is in history a major river port. Alcoutim is located on the Guadiana River which via Vila Real de Santo António flows into the Atlantic Ocean. There you will find a 14th century castle, where a small archaeological museum is located. Alcoutim was formerly known for its rich copper and iron mines. Now it’s mainly many types of handicrafts and agriculture where the inhabitants make there living with.

    Mooi groot, knus en gezellige sfeer in Vila violeta! Rustig gelegen en van alle gemakken voorzien. Vele mooie wandelen te maken in de omgeving en alles is dicht in de buurt! Kortom een heerlijke plek voor vakantie !
